Department of Bio Technology

Department of Biotechnology came into existence in 2006 - 07 with starting of B.E. programme in Biotechnology to meet the demand of Biotechnology professionals. This is the only college to start B.E. Biotechnology in North Maharashtra University with an intake of 30 students. The major attraction of the department is having experienced & qualified faculty. The department laboratories are spacious, well equipped, with modern infrastructural facilities for students to gain knowledge and give hands on training in Biotechnology. The department is engaged in teaching and research in Biotechnology & related area. This department caters to needs of B.E. Biotechnology course as prescribed by the North Maharashtra University , Jalgaon (M.S.). All the laboratories are spacious & equipped with modern & sophisticated equipments, machinery and computer laboratory is having AspenHYSYS software.

The curriculum of Biotechnology includes the  subjects like  Concept in Biotechnology, Microbiology , Fluid flow and solid handling, Process calculation, Engineering Mathematics- III , Biochemistry , Chemistry, Immunology, Biostatistics , Process Heat Transfer, Bio Process Principles , Chemical Reaction Engineering, Mass Transfer-I & II , Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering , Enzyme Engineering , Instrumentation and Process Control , Biological Thermodynamics ,  Biotechnology of Waste Treatment , Fermentation Biotechnology- I. Industrial Training , Bioprocess Engineering – I, Bioprocess Modeling and Simulation, Bioseparation Processes, Elective I: (Advanced Biomaterials/Plant Tissue Culture & Plant Biotechnology/ Protein Engineering/ Food Biotechnology), Fermentation Biotechnology-II, Bioprocess Engineering –II, Bioprocess Engineering and Economics, Bioinformatics, Elective II: (Metabolic Engineering/ Biosafety & Bioethics/ Biomedical Fluid Dynamics/ Applied Genetic Engineering) are included in the curriculum in order to accustom the students with all facet of Biotechnology. Industry oriented projects, experimental projects, design projects are given to the final year students. Student has to go under Industrial training and Industrial visit during the tenure of the course.
